MDM Dual Mobility Hip

The new Dual Mobility hip replacement system with screws utilizes twin articulations enhancing range of motion. Movement occurs between the head and the high tech plastic mobile liner(X3). The mobile liner in turn moves against a highly polished Metal cup which is fixed to the pelvis with screws making it a rigid & stable construct. This design is called Dual Mobility cup. In the earlier version the cup could not be fixed to the pelvis making dual mobility hips highly prone for cup failures. Because of the large plastic head, this Hip System makes the joint extremely stable so that active patients can engage in recreational and sports activities. The large head also allows a greater, more than normal range of motion than standard implants

The dual points of articulation help accommodate multi-directional movement that allows potentially greater range of motion and reduced wear of artificial joint compared to conventional designs. The Hip System is combined with strykerX3 highly cross-linked polyethylene that addresses the key concerns with conventional hip replacement implants.

As the polyethylene used in the implant is not brittle, it offers significantly superior durability. As wear rate is significantly low, the implant longevity is far superior. This implant is an excellent option for patients who require a large Range of movement without the risk of dislocation. “The implant allows the patient to sit on the floor and use Indian style toilet.
